Now that you have a website of your very own, reflect about your own website and what will you change, what do you like about it & what do you dislike. Please post the URL address at the end of your reflection.
All in all, I am glad that I had the opportunity to build this site. I don’t think I could build a site without taking this class first. At first I wasn’t happy with it because it is not exactly what I envisioned. I realize, though, that this is learning experience and that I can go back and change it when necessary and that I can make major improvements. I really want to add background pictures to it to make it feel more educational and fun. I did like the colors, though. I also liked the fact that I could change the appearance of the buttons. I plan on doing some modifications to it so that I can make it better. The url is http://scatcat.fhsu.edu/~dmfarris. I don’t know why, but you have to click on the folder that is labeled prof web and that will take you directly to my website. I hope it’s not too boring!

Take time and view your classmates websites, what three are your favorites and why? URL’s are posted in Moodle.
I really liked the way Denise Siemens has her site set up. It is very organized and I think any principal would love it. It has everything right there. It is easy to navigate through, too. I could not figure out how to set a background picture in the Ezedia program. I will have to work on it later. Very nice!
Marci Edington’s site is just awesome. It so kid friendly and wonderful. It was very easy to navigate through and I just loved it. That is the kind of site I would like to have in the future.
Ashley Connolly has a great site. It is easy to navigate through and I really like the colors (purple is my favorite)! I like the way it is set up.

What tool do you think you will use in personally outside your classroom and why?
Personally, I could see myself using the voicethread for my picture albums. This would allow me to narrate my pictures and send/share them with the people that I want to. I could also see myself using jumpcut. This would also allow me to make a neat home video of the family. I can download my videos, pictures, or sound files and put them in my movie. I think that is neat.

What tools will you use in the future or keep using and why?
All of the tools we learned about are useful and can very easily be integrated into classrooms. Since I will be doing my student teaching in kindergarten, I will continue to use the LetterPop site because I think it is important to keep parents and faculty up-to-date on the wonderful things that the kindergarteners are accomplishing and/or working on. This will give me the opportunity to keep parents notified.
If I do have an older group of kids, such as 4th-6th grade, I would have them do a voicethread. This tool is a neat way to get kids interested in their projects and I think that they learn better from each other rather than hearing the teacher go on and on. This would also get them involved with wanting to learn about different tools that can used on the internet.

Five thing that made me wow or ah ha
I have learned about so many useful tools during this semester. Before taking this class, I was kind of technology illiterate. I could run a computer and run the programs, but I was completely oblivious to all the free tools that are available on the web. One tool I found very useful was the voicethread. I really like this because it lots can be done with it. I also liked the LetterPop assignment. I will definitely be using this during my student teaching. I really enjoyed listening to K-12 online conference. The presenters had so much information to give. Since I found out about Joost, I have been watching episodes online (and they are commercial free!). I stumbled onto jumpcut.com. This site allows you to make movies and edit them and add sound files. I had some problems with the editing, but I really liked the tool!
